Your Favorite TEDtalk?

Garrett Lisi on his theory of everything

What would you speak about during your 3 minute TEDx Talk?
I would speak about passion, taking risks and about giving young people the opportunity to save their world. I see the creation of networks of do’ers, who work with passion and come up with positive, innovative solutions for our energy demands, electric transportation, care and poverty. It will be young entrepreneurs that drive these innovations, not large companies or governments. I would like to talk about ways of releasing this power to the world.

Come up with five keyword that define you
Optimistic, Father and Social.

Your favorite TEDtalk?
Dan Gilbert asks Why are we happy?

Always brings a smile on my face. Dan Gilbert demonstrates just how poor we humans are at predicting (or understanding) what will make us happy. His talk has a wonderful balance of humor and insight.

What would you speak about during your 3 minute TEDx Talk?
Presentation skills – how the right combination of visuals and spoken word can emphasis the strength of any message.

Come up with five keywords that define you
Open, Cheerful, Driven, Focussed and ‘No worries’

Your Favorite TEDtalk?
David Carson is an American graphic designer. He is best known for his innovative magazine design, and use of experimental typography. In particular, his widely-imitated aesthetic defined the so-called “grunge” era. I love to use this while designing for the web.

What would you speak about during your 3 minute TEDx Talk?
How making music, designs or combining those two can be a drug. I wanna be an addict for the rest of my life.

What is your TEDx job?
During the day, I’m a blogger for Dutch newspaper nrc.next. In the night time, I blog for TEDxAmsterdam.

What is your favorite TED talk?
I was impressed by the moving talk of Sir Ken Robinson. He says that schools kill creativity. Not in an aggressive way, but witty, with the typical British jokes. I wish more people would stop striving for mediocrity, but allow talent and originality to flourish.

What would you tell during your 3-minute TEDx Talk?
Internet is the new LSD, didn’t you know yet? I thought so. That’s why I’ll use my three minutes to explain that LSD and internet both help you to break through existing structures. Yet there’s also a problem: they’re both pretty addictive. So my main message would be: use internet as a means to achieve big audacious goals (more here).

Come up with five keywords that define you:
Ambitious, blogging, new media, connecting, and generalist.

RickWhat is your TEDx job?
Motion Design. I’m responsible for the TEDxAmsterdam Teaser and all video related content for the website.

What would you tell during your 3-minute TEDx Talk?
The subject of my 3 minute Talk would be “Life Experience”. Someone very close to me once said, that in a past life she was an aboriginal. As funny as this may sound (I laughed about it, more than once), but this is a universal feeling and what she meant to say was that she has a strong bond with these people which goes beyond her understanding. So what I would do is, make a documentary about this quest for her roots, make a visit to Australia and look for different (unconventional) explanations of this ‘past life mystery’, from Psychology to Neurology, from Astronomy to Geometry and Religion to Quantum Physics. And in this 3-minute Talk I would tell my experiences making this documentary.

Come up with five keyword that define you:
Focus, determination, caring, stubborn, learner

What is your favorite TED talk?
I like unconventional explanations to mysteries people think about. To me that’s creativity and open-mindness, factors that are capable of providing a breakthrough.
On a substance level, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi is one of my heroes. But on a performance based level I enjoy watching Poet Rives with 4 a.m. and Siegfried Woldhek’s true face of Leonardo da Vinci

Albert-jan

Your Favorite TEDtalk?
Rebecca Saxe: How we read each other’s minds

What would you speak about during your 3 minute TEDx Talk?
A story about passion for developing new concepts, breaking boundaries, not only fools fall into a million traps, music as the most abstract art form, why the moon is more intriguing than the sun and why the ultimate strive for happiness is developing yourself and continuously gathering knowledge.

Come up with five keywords that define you
Energetic, Open, Passionate, Optimistic and Persistent
