Marriage between ecology and economy
Louise Vet is a professor of Evolutionary Ecology at Wageningen University and director of the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW), the largest institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is an ecologist with a broad interest in ecology and evolution, working on multitrophic interaction. Vet has a special interest in communicating the importance of ecology to the general public. Besides conducting high quality ecological scientific research, Louise Vet works on achieving a good marriage between ecology and economy. The latter is crucial to reach a sustainable society where ecology and economy do not clash but join forces. Louise Vet tries to achieve this goal by using the power of positive action. Vet: “pointing to positive achievements is crucial to get things done in the future. It will stimulate positive awareness, additional action, creative solutions and multiple approaches.’
