Dr. Gerhard Knies is a specialist at the area of energy. As a physicist Knies worked for DESY, CERN and the famous University of Berkeley (CA). Gerhard Knies was co-founder of TREC, a network of experts on sustainable energy. TREC gave rise to the initiative DESERTEC to provide Europe at whole with clean energy. In order to reach this goal the Northern part of the Sahara must utterly be covered with solar panels.
